Bear - Elk Standoff
« on: August 18, 2016, 05:00:55 PM »
I know elk are big animals, but she surprises me the way she works her way in toward the hay. A few pictures prior to this sequence, there is a cow in there with a calf. I'm wondering if that's why she's acting tough. Thoughts...?

Nice pics! Couple years ago I watched a moose and cougar stand off, cougar would advance and the moose would back up, then the moose would advance and the cougar would back up, both never turning their backs on the other. This went on for awhile, All of a sudden the moose ran directly in my direction with the Cougar in tow. Needless to say I was waving my arms and making some noises.
Tried to record it but I didn't work out.

I bet that was awesome to watch. I have a trail camera sequence of a Coyote badgering a black bear sow and cub. It was pretty impressive seeing the tactics of the coyote, although he was ultimately unsuccessful in that specific circumstance.
