Group size.

What is a honest good group for a muzzle loader at 50 yards and 100 yards.  I'm a perfectionist but my groups are between a baseball and softball size.  little bigger at a 100 yards.  Any opinions.

assuming off a bench, baseball sized off hand would be pretty good.
I always thought about two inches or so at 50 was pretty good, that with a sidelock.

Exactly!  When I started shooting muzzleloaders back in the day. Hitting a paper plate at 100 yards was considered excellent.

Your muzzleloader should be capable of less than 2" groups at 50 yards for sure.

What kind of rifle and load?

Personally, I like a really tight group.....   It gives me confidence when hunting.

50 yards, I usually can see well enough to get a 2 inch group with no problem. But at 100, I've never been able to shoot consistently, due to the open sights. If I get a 4 inch group with 3 shots, I consider that excellent. And I could live with a 6 inch group at 100.

Absolutely, I wonder how little variation in the open signs results in that wide of a group. Less than a 1/16th of an inch difference in aiming location would have to equate to a relatively large group at 100 for a 3 shot group

I shot at 100 yards Sunday with a softball size group.  Cut the powder charge down to 100gr from 110 and am now shooting 1 1/2 inch groups.  Blew me away how much the amount of powder effected my grouping.
