The most commonly used bullet across the country is a bullet slipped into a sabot.  But, a Knight will shoot most anything that fits with great accuracy even those terrible 'pBelts' - the 'jest' on the pBelts is purely personal...

Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!

I shot Powerbelts from my Knight Bighorn .50 for several years.  However, I experienced some bad accuracy with them towards the end of that period.  On Sabotloader's recommendation, I switched to the Knight Bloodlines, and will never go back.  They shoot cleaner and much more accurately.  The effect on game is tremendous. They are more expensive, but a good sabot is truly worth it.  On a side note, I do not miss all the soft lead flakes littering the inside of the deer carcass.  My nervous system needs all the help it can get, I suppose!

"ballistically, bore sized projectiles are the very worst muzzleloading projectiles available. Comparing a .452 or .452 saboted pistol bullet to a "fifty caliber" bore-sized conical makes even the poorest pistol bullet look like a shooting powerhouse. It is fundamental that when comparing projectiles of similar weight and shape, the smaller caliber bullet is always superior in sectional density and almost always superior in ballistic coefficient. In other words, it flies better and penetrates deeper, losing less of its terminal striking force than a bore sized bullet."

Randy W. is pretty much a tool, but he at least got this right.

The plastic "skirt" at the base of the Powerbelt functions a *little bit* like a sabot, but still lacks the wrap-around stabilization offered by a sabot.  Again, I am no expert (see Sabotloader for that!), but my own experience has led me on a one-way track to saboted rounds.

Good luck!

Copied this from the Knight owners manual

Knight Rifles does not recommend the use of non-saboted lead
projectiles. These bullets can easily be moved from the powder charge. This will
result in an obstructed barrel, and, upon firing, could cause an explosion. If you
choose or legally have to shoot non-saboted lead projectiles, always check that
your projectile is properly seated immediately before priming and firing.

In Knight's business world it is all about "safety and liability"
