Using stones to sharpen knives, in my opinion, is an art form and it is a skill set I DO NOT possess so for someone like myself, the Ken Onion works great.

We have a few ceramic kitchen knives, and though you need to be a little more careful with ceramic knives, holy moly are these things fricken sharp but because ceramic is so hard it takes special tools to sharpen them once they finally lose their edge.  Work Sharp sells special belts for sharpening ceramic blades but I've got to be honest, I never bought them because I figured they were probably a joke and wouldn't really work but I didn't feel like sending them back to the manufacturer and waiting so I took a chance and ordered the Work Sharp ceramic sharpening kit for $30.  I was pleasantly surprised when I got them and they worked extremely well.  Now I can sharpen my ceramic knives myself and they turn out out just as sharp if not a little sharper than they are when I send them back to get sharpened.

I also have the belt sander attachment for my Ken Onion Work Sharp and it works great for putting an edge on lawn and garden tools.  Works much better at touching up my lawnmower blades than when I used to use my bench top grinder.
