mounting optics on Primos trigger sticks
« on: August 12, 2015, 09:33:51 PM »
Has anyone done this?

I was thinking of mounting my 10x42 binos to my trigger sticks bipod, as a lighter-weight alternative for glassing far from the truck. Would you recommend fitting a tripod head to the 3/8 thread or is there a better option?

I utilise the bog pog switcheroo system, which is essentially what you are asking about. The Bog pog for me is one solution for Bino, Spotting scope and tripod for gun. it works great for me.

I use a Manfrotto 128rc fluid head on the primos short tripod.

Then Outdoorsmans quick adapter for my Vortex binos (Steven Rinella Meateater uses this) attached to the manfrotto quick adapter plate

I also have a 1/4" to 3/8" adapter plate on a separate manforotto plate to quickly change to the primos "V"

An easy way to do all this is skip the manfrotto fluid head and look for a traditional Bino adapter tapped for 3/8x16 or do it yourself with a bottom tap. You'll have less movement of your binos but you'll save $100.
