Where to go for small game and what not to do???

Hello, everyone!

I finally got my first rifle.
Ist savage Mark II 2lr. Super exited!

Im new to USA and Washington. Its my first fire arm.
I have good air rifle experience in target shooting and rabbits hunting.
So I assume i ok with handling a weapon.

Can you please advice where i can get true information about carrying, proper legal handling etc.
I don't want to get in trouble because of not knowing the law.

Seller in the store told me i can't transport loaded firearm or transport ammo together with rifle in the trunk.
Good to know.

Will appreciate this kind of general tips or a link to gov resource where i can learn it.


Im living in Bellevue and i found kenmore shooting range close to me where i can practice. Does anyone shooting there?
Any other ranges in the area?

Where i can hunt or plinking? Almost everything is a private property or hiking trails.

Will highly appreciate responses!

Where did live previously if you are new to the U.S and Washington?

Since you have no experience with firearms (other than air rifles), you would be best served by seeking out a Hunter Education Course, which will teach you how to safely handle and transport firearms along with other things.

It is also required for everyone born after Jan 1, 1972, before a hunting license can even be purchased.  Some info here about the course:

One example of good and bad information you may get from various sources is the clerk telling you that your loaded rifle cannot be transported in your vehicle, this is correct.

However, the clerk saying you could not transport ammo together with the rifle in the trunk is incorrect, provided the rifle is not loaded.

I born in small town in very North-East of Russia.
I start shooting when i was 8 years old in indoor range for 50m (~55 yards).
We was shooting from TOZ-12 rifle (22lr). See attachment.

Than i moved to European part of Russia - Saint-Petersburg.
There i shoot a lot from Edgun matador 22 pcp air rifle - great gun!

About 7 years ago i moved to Portugal - Lisbon and had there Gamo 177 (spring powered 75$ air gun).
No serious shooting since then.

Two years ago i moved to USA. Finally got 22lr. Very exited about it )

Are you a US citizen now? This has a lot to do with the law. your dealer was right in that you can't have a loaded rifle it your vehicle, and as far as ammo you can carry that wherever you want.
