Frustrated
« on: August 28, 2016, 10:17:17 AM »
Did some scouting yesterday.  Was sad to find a freshly harvested little spike.  Left a message with FW, not sure if tribal season was open.  I really hope people aren't in that area blasting away.  Its hard to find a legal animal in there as is.

Isn't tribal season always open?

Tribal is open, heard of a few guys getting them already. Tribal land opened now, not just off res lands.

It was in 506, timber co lands so definitely not on the reservation.

There is no tribal hunting in pacific county with the exception of the shoal water bay reservation within their boundaries. Which timber company? And any chance it could have been a salvage roadkill?

Short blood trail, legs looked pretty clean for a collision and the spot was a little out of the way.

- I'm pretty sure they also hunt Long Island occasionally (perhaps that was included in the Shoalwater area), though I doubt that this is where the OP found the remains.  I thought they could also hunt on leased and unclaimed lands.

Well that sucks.  506 is where I'm elk hunting this year.  The same general area the I hunted with my dad when I was a teenager almost 40 years ago.  Not a ton of animals there; just hoping that my scouting will pay off.  Don't need some ding-dong out shooting anything with a yellow butt just because he can.

No yellow butt, but a black tail. Big or small doesn't matter in my book. I just hate to see things like that happen for all of us.

No business hours are Monday through Friday. Per the hotline, if it's in progress they direct you to call police.

I live near that unit and I'm sure that it wasn't tribal.

A person would like to think that some kids are getting a good meal that they wouldn't have had any other way; but it never seems to be like that.

:bash:  Crazy, how do they expect to catch poachers by having the system on bankers hours?

I am sure funding has a lot to do with the hours which sucks!

How come everything is done by a poacher? Glad to hear they took the meat from that road kill good for them.

Roadkill out in the timber?  Come on Squidward, even SpongeBob knows there's no roadkill out in the woods!

Poaching and legal tribal hunting are daily facts of life everywhere in this state.  All you can do is report suspected lawbreakers and move on with your daily activities.  Don't let their activities ruin your fun.

You have to remove the body from the roadway. Take home, print permit and salvage meat. The woods is where I'd get rid of the remains.
