which rest???

I am pretty new to archery and was wondering what you guys would suggest to use as the best arrow rest for hunting... currently shooting a bowtech tomkat with one of those two prong rests that i dont really care for... heard good things about the fall aways but some swear by whisker bisquits. Any ideas?

I have a QAD Ultra Rest HD on my bow and love it for hunting, it's a fall away and has full containment.

also now there is the octane hostage which is like a whisker biscuit with brushes only on the arrow shaft and total fletch clearance, used to have the QAD on my bow and swapped it out

I have the Trophy Taker Xtreme full containment rest on my bow. It's super quiet for hunting!

if your new to archery and want to go to a fall away rest than you should probly look into a full containment rest. I shot the standard trophy taker for years and love it, but I was brought up at an early age shooting bows. I since have swapped out for the QAD Ultrarest and love it. Although the whisker style is a great rest, I often wonder if it is good for beginners? Yes I know it will keep your arrow in check, but as a beginner, one might have hand torque or twist and the arrow will follow that same path in error

I like the whisker biscuit for hunting because of its simplicity. Nothing connected to your cable, so that it could fail at some point like drop aways. It is easy to tune, but so is the drop away. I have shot both and it just comes down to personal preference.

All good rests that have been suggested.  I started out with the Muzzy back in 2002.  I like this rest.  I don't have to worry about arrow falling off.  Worked great.  This year, I got a different bow and decided to go with the Limbdriver.  It's very easy to set up, no need to draw the bow.  I highly recommend this one.

My friend used to have the WB on his bow.  The only thing I can say about this rest is that if you shoot a lot off season, you'll end up refletching your arrows often.

I have had a Trophy Taker fall away on my past two bows but the more i hear about the ripcord fall away the more i like them. They work like a traditional fall away but you can also lock them into the upwards position to act like a traditional rest. Another cool feature is that they have an arm on them that doesn't let your arrow fall of at full draw. Over all it sounds like a good deal.

I will only add that the Whisker Biscuit is especially effective for those that hunt on the ground stalking and still-hunting. Never any worry about the arrow falling off the rest.

Why would you take a head shot with a bow? Was it an accident or on purpose?

To say the least.... Probably hit it in the head by mistake, and LUCK!  Not saying he is a bad shot, but common sense would tell one not to shoot that far let alone aim for the head....

Seriously  Don't give bow hunters a worse name than they already have. I hate finding animals in the field that where wounded and never found. Stupid stunts like that are what cause the findings.

Hell I have a hard enough time seeing 72 yards let alone shooting that far.
