Two gun problems in one day.
« on: August 28, 2016, 07:33:49 PM »
Problem number one.

I picked up a New Stoeger Longfowler, 12 gauge ,O/U last week.
Took it home read the instructions, cleaned the gun and lubed where required.

Worked the break action several times all in good order.

Got out today to shoot it and patern the extended choke.
One shot each barrel no problem. Reload another shot each barrel.
Go to reload, cannot get it to break open to eject shells. Take the barrel off get empties out.
Put back together, still won't break open enough to access lower barrel.
Crap.
On the way home I stop into Skagit Arms where I bought to see in the guys have any ideas.
There is a rod at the bottom of the action. It is bent.
So sending it in to stoeger tomorrow. No idea how that happens.

Problem # 2 gun two.

I bought my grandson a used SA-08 ,Wheatherby, 20 ga.  Auto. Last year. Stuck it in the safe  till this year. Now he  is getting ready for grouse season so I have that with me and decide to pattern it.
All good except it won't cycle shells.
Tried everything no go.

So I take it home and break it down and clean real good. It has gas Pistons one for heavy loads one for light loads. The heavy piston was in the gun.
Loads were 2 3/4  8s.

Can anyone tell me how these Pistons work.

Any ideas on these issues.

The  Stoeger Longfowler is odd, you should have two rods to reset the hammers. I have the Longfowler SXS with now issues if the forearm is installed correctly, it has two cam like features that must be in the forward position to make the extractors and locking feature to work.
For number 2 use the light piston, the heavy should be for 3 inch or high velocity shells. Also there may be a break in time for the gun, it happens a lot. My Beretta said to run a 100 target shells through it first so it would cycle.

Yeah after I cleaned the stoeger I opened and closed it a dozen times. No issues.
Shot it twice no issue than the next two. Wouldn't operate.

The bent rod in dead center. But not sure what it does.

Yeah I put the light piston in and will try it this week.

Talked to Stoeger today. Sent the gun it two weeks ago.
They are shipping me a new gun this week.

Nice
