Cracked limb! Need Mathews DXT cam!
« on: September 01, 2016, 05:02:20 AM »
So the last couple weeks I've noticed my shooting has been getting randomly inaccurate.  I would shoot great 4/5 times but have one a foot off in any direction.  This has been getting progressively worse and now 2/3 shots are off by 12 to 18".  I figured my form was getting sloppy so I really starting consentrating on the correct fundamentals but it wasn't helping and was really getting frustrating. My bow has been getting louder which I think I was ignoring.  And I noticed my string was getting really worn by the cam.  Last night I spent some time examining the bow and found one of my limbs to be cracked.  Just what I want to happen the week before elk season!!!

I have a back up old bow that I'm gonna scramble to get set up this weekend.  It's a Mathews dxt, but the problem is, the cam is a 29.5" RH and I typically shoot a 28".  I can make it work for early season if I have to but I'm hoping someone magically has one laying around.

Does anyone have a 27.5", 28", or 28.5" RH cam for a Mathews dxt laying around that I can purchase off of you?

Might try to call riverside archery in mount Vernon.  He does a lot of Mathews stuff.

About 15 years ago I broke a limb on my compound 4 days before I was leaving to hunt.  Ended up having to hunt with a recurve with no sights.  It made me really attempt to get close.

Adam- I also have a Dren DRHL cam not sure if it'll work on a DXT or even what draw it is. If it comes down to the wire and you think you can make the 27 work I will lend it to you until you get a 28. Just send me a PM.

Man the generosity from members on this sight never stops amazing me!  Thanks for your offers guys I think I can make the long draw Mathews work...  i went out and shot this morning and it's not exactly comfortable but I am good with the longer draw until after early season then I will try and find a shorter cam.  Now I just have to set up the Mathews.  Coach, JBar, and D-Rock, you guys ever need packing help or a beer at the wood shed or whistling jacks, I'd like to return the generosity.

I got all my gear off my bear bow and on to the Mathews and paper tuned today followed by setting it up out to 60...  Not a huge fan of my arm getting slapped with the long draw but I can shoot an elk next week so I'm happy!

I found a 28" Drenalin cam but don't remember if it will cross over to a DXT. I'll PM you my number and if you want to give it a try you can.

Are you still in need?  I have a DXT with 28 inch cams on it under the bed.  Funny thing is I have a small ding in the upper limb ( :bash:).  I am using a different bow that I purchased.  If you would like, you can borrow the cams off of it.  I am located in Ellensburg.
