Nice 3pt black tail.

Forgot about this thread.  Twenty yard shot, ran about eighty yards, I shot a little quicker than I should have since he was looking at me.  I hit lungs high and back so very little blood trail but completely bled out internally.  180 pounds "on the hoof", heaviest deer harvested in ten years out here.

Thanks

Loki that's a huge BT. Good job. Seems like you are out of arrows?!?

I only had two with new blades, one with last year's, the kill arrow was still out in the grass, didn't find it until daylight.  You don't have to carry so many when you are less than a quarter mile from home....   8)

I am curious to get an age on him.  One neighbor gave me a little hard time for shooting such a big buck, "didn't I want his genetics to be passed on?"  I told her I was pretty sure they had been passed on for five to eight years.  :chuckle:

Loki - You got the swimmer didn't you!   :chuckle:  Congrats man!  That's a heck of a buck!  I think your neighbor is just jealous.  A buck that size on Decatur has been taking care of the does for a few years for sure.  Stud island deer.

(then again, if he truly was a swimmer, he probably made landfall last estrous/rutting season and magically appeared in your neighborhood this spring as the biggest buck on the island.  Seems like you might have noticed him in the past if he'd been on island for the last few years. -- anyway, I hope I score a buck with that much meat on him this year.)

My buck for the year.  Got him on the third evening sitting in a treestand.  I have watched him grow up for the last few years.  Huge body.  Carcass weighed 142lbs at the butcher.
