I would like to propose that the deer 2016 thread only contain photos and that we save our comments for separate threads.   It seems the last couple years that the threads have ended up being like 40 pages long because of all the comments;  making it difficult to view the photos quickly  or locate specific photos.  it would be really cool to have a thread where you could just scroll through a ton of pics!   Obviously, we would need a moderator to enforce this by deleting comments people mistakenly add to the thread. Thoughts?

I'm not sure I'm in favor of this, but I will run it up the flagpole with the team and see what they think. Majority rules for the most part.

Will report back.

I get what you are saying and have thought the same thing before.  It would be nice to have a thread that is just pics that you scroll through but some deer really deserve a comment and I am just not sure I could refrain.  A mod assigned just to that thread would definitely be needed.

Many people only post in that thread.  They don't have a separate thread with a story that people can make comments in or ask questions about where and how.

I appreciate the thought of only photos and would almost like that myself, but this is a forum, a place for interaction, I think more members would like to be able to comment. Perhaps a poll should be attached to this topic, then we can see what the numbers say?

A poll would be beneficial for sure.

Edit, just added a poll for input.

I would be in favor of photos and comments only from the one posting photos.  The successful hunter could give a story and details, but I wouldn't have to scroll through an entire page for one photo.

The benefit to this, posting a photo and quick story but not allowing comments by others is some might feel more comfortable posting if they weren't subjecting themselves to the possibility of comments about "where's the tag?", "where's the orange?", "why did you shoot that?", "I know where you are hunting" or even calling out the location for all to then know your spot.

The drawback is sometimes this thread is the only place that you see these success photos and it would be nice to comment on them since there isn't another thread to do so on.

I think a lot of people post their success stories to get comments from the forum. could there be a sticky made for each species for just harvest photos?

Kind of hard to pat someone on the back with no comments.   Id like to leave it as is.  SOme folks aren't writers.  THey post their buck and its their way to get involved with the forum.

I would like both types of threads. The existing thread could remain just the way it is. There could be another thread for 2016 success photos only. I would love to see a thread that's just filled with nothing but photos of deer that were taken in 2016. I think it would be extremely popular.

I say the sticky thread for pics and a storie. And people can make another thread to discuss their hunts if they want. Sometimes I like to just look at the pics and a thread with mostly them is nice for that. Either way I don't care too much tho.

Of all the things wrong with the world, I don't believe having a thread that is too long, or hard to locate specific photos....... is one of them.

I say leave it as it is....   :twocents:
