2016 puplic land archery buck down.
« on: September 03, 2016, 04:12:14 PM »
Spotted this buck along ways out 1st light so set up to watch him, hoping he'd bed. Was out in some crp. Couple hours later he takes off running by himself away from the other deer to the head end of a draw. I never saw him after that, so I knew he bedded. I started my brutal hike over to him and as I was about to crest the top into the draw, I dropped my pack to ease in. Slowly hiking I could see the while top of the draw. Finally I notices an antler tucked away in the shade at 60yds. I eases in, wind was perfect. Got to 46 and could see his whole body so I let him have it! Hit him a little high but I knew I got lung from the downward angle. He got out always and stopped so I took a follow up shot and missed. He went over the ridge and I followed slowly knowing he was hurting. Found him standing and made a 20yd follow up shot and sealed the deal. Boned him out and was far from impressed with what I had to hike him out of lol. Shot at 10am, to the truck at 3:30

Man! :yike: that's a beauty grats.
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter
