What happened with WDFW pig hunting
« on: September 03, 2016, 04:37:51 PM »
Does any body know what was the outcome of the WDFW going in and killing the feral pigs in the Columbia River Basin in Grant County?  They closed the area for the month of August to shoot them from the air.  Hope a few survived....

You might want pigs out there but anyone who makes there living from the land out there will argue the point.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

WDFW doesn't do the shooting. I hope USFWS killed them all.  :twocents:

"Last week, the last of several feral pigs reported in Central Washington was tracked down and killed by USDA Wildlife Service officials armed with a helicopter and a shotgun."

A good friend of mine was involved with the pursuit of these pigs, and the first attempt was deemed a success, but sense then there has been reports of at least one sow and seven piglets still roaming around in the potholes area.

I hope they shot some coyotes while they were at it.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

As I was told, they only tasked with the pigs, there was a huge sense of urgency placed on them by the state.  They do not address the yotes until the spring.

My buddy who live at the Potholes says a couple times a week a helicopter flies around the west edge of the lake. Back and forth for about an hour. He's not heard why it's flying around there, said it could be deer counts but really didn't know.

I'm not sure why you'd hope some survived. I'm assuming you've seen the damage they do?

I hope they got them all.  They do a ton of damage. If you want to shoot pigs take a trip to the south and help them out.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.
