« on: September 03, 2016, 09:46:30 PM »
Made it back into the basin and decided to try some doves at the farm shooting was okay for about an hour hunt.  Shot a lanyard full of banded ducks and geese but my first banded dove!

That's cool.  I didn't know they banded doves.

Most species of birds in N. America have been parts of banding studies. My friends shot 4 banded doves opening day.  I have shot two in the past.  Definitely a nice find!
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

Yes ive seen banded robins and cedar waxwings before but never a dove yet harvest one.  I imagine later in the season when more migrate in chances may be better.  My cousin shot seven bands in a ten bird limit a few years ago, just depends if you get into a flock just like ducks and geese.  Shot quite a few hundred doves and never really checked but when the dog brought it back tonight it caught my eye, a nice little surprise.
