Great memories to have with your family. Congrats to all of you on a nice ram

As Paul Harvey used to say here is the rest of the story. We started this hunt with my dad the tag holder, my younger brother Steve, his daughter Brittany, His son Vinnie, my son Zach and myself. Everyone was telling us to not just run around like you where deer hunting or you will spook them out of the area. So keeping the youngsters hobbled was difficult. On Sunday the 11th Zach and Brittany had to head home to go back to work. They were sad that they wouldn't be able to complete they hunt, but confident we could get it done.

They didn't see any Rams and we decided to head over Domingo pass to the north to glass the west side in the evening. When we got to the top of Domingo pass and decided to skip across the top of the mountains to see what I could see. We new going up on top was risky but we felt it was time to get aggressive. I posted this picture of 4 rams Sunday night

Now the scary part of this was those 4 Rams were in the next basin to the south of where Steve and Vinnie went up and when they headed south they should of seen the Rams or the Rams should of seen them. So either we got real lucky or they were somewhere else in the morning.

Sunday night we made a plan to glass from the Eastside again. But this time if we didn't see anything we were all going to the top.

Monday morning I was feeling confident as you probably gathered from my morning post that day. We parked in the same spot as the day before and Vinnie was going to walk south to glass the basin the 4 rams where in Sunday night and I was going to climb a small peak that gave me good viewing of two basins. While dad and Steve would glass from the truck.

Steve spotted the 7 Rams almost immediately. So I spend up my pace to the top to get eyes on them and make a plan.

On the way up, I bumped 6 mule deer bucks. The biggest was a tall 4x4. I had to steer them in a direction that wouldn't alert the rams. Any I got to the top and got my spotting scope on them.

They eventually all bedded and the stalk/climb was on. The plan was for my Dad, Steve, and Vinnie to go around the hill I was on and up a basin to the North of the Rams. But before they got very far the Rams all got up and went over to the west side. I didn't like loosing sight of them, but I also felt this would work out better as the climb up to where they went over was a lot easier then the basin to the north.

So I radiod the crew to back out and drive back to where they were this morning. This basin also had a road into it, so we could get my dad a lot closer before he started climbing.

Meanwhile I took off for the spot that I watched the Rams go over. Got to a nice bluff just below the top on the Eastside and rested and drank and ate something. Then I crawled over the top. Thankful that I had my Sitka pants on today with knee pads. Slowly I got to the top and then found out the other side really rolled over and I couldn't see very far down. I didn't want to crawl down hill and possibly spoke them so I worked my way back to my shady hiding spot.
