Griffon books
« on: September 05, 2016, 09:29:36 PM »
Finally time to get a family dog.  Kids are growing up quickly and it wouldn't be right not to have a dog. I have been reading up on the different breeds and think the wpg will be a good fit for us.  But not ever getting a specialty breed I'm not sure how or where to start even looking for the right breeder.  Does anyone have some book suggestions I could get to get a better idea on training and such? Thanks all.

Check out a NAVHDA NA test. Best to see them run in person and ask around for breeder info.

Send me a PM if you would like more info.

Check out the Treasure Valley chapter of NAVHDA. I got a dog out of that chapter last year and then went and did the Natural Ability test with their chapter this spring. They are a great group of people. There were 3 Griffs at their last test. Two of those pups scored very well. I think both dogs were out of the same breeder.
Lead em if they're running.

There is a wonderful litter of pups on the ground right now.
Grouse Mountain Griffons in Whitefish Montana.  Very nice family and hunting dogs.
If you would like their contact information please let me know.

Thanks everyone. I'll look into the trials.  As much as I would like to jump into the puppy right now it just isn't the right time.  Do they have a Facebook page to follow?

I did. I was hoping to do a little more research on training and such over the winter and try to line one up this coming spring.

Where are you located?  You're welcome to meet my crazy pup!  I think the more you research Griffs the more you'll find there's not a lot of "public" info on Griffon breeders.  If you're looking for general information about the breed I'd say this site gives a very accurate summary from what I've seen in my own Griff.

I'm assuming you'll be hunting this dog??
