MONTANA BULL DOWN
« on: September 06, 2016, 03:48:15 AM »
Had an awesome opening weekend. My friend,Dan, and I had a goal to get his dad ,Gary, on a bull and we managed to make it happen. The rut hasn't kicked in much yet in the area we were hunting. Saw 3 bulls together and only heard one bugle.
We made the 7 mile hike to spike camp on Saturday with very little sign seen or heard.
Sunday am We spotted this bull from 1\2 mile away and dropped in on him. He came in silent to some cow calf calls. Dan captured it all on video. Gary made a great quartered away 60 yd shot.
Congratulations to Gary. He celebrated his 63 Bday while we packed meat yesterday.
We were about 5 miles in and 3500 vert from truck, Hope I can still do that when Im 63.

Congrats on a good bull
While I envy the meat in the freezer, I don't envy that pack out.
