Heart set on a WY archery bull.
« on: September 08, 2016, 06:59:13 PM »
It's getting close.  Not sure what I'm waiting for.  Got a general elk tag and plan on upgrading it for archery.  Brother is out this evening spotting elk in WY.  I'm hanging out at home waiting for Saturday.  I'll give myself 3-4 day working the local herds.  Then I'm heading to WY for DIY public land hunting.  Hoping to get my first archery elk this year.  Either way I'm staying till it's over.  Hoping the wolves don't mess it up this year.

What part of the state will you be hunting?

Got word the weather is changing.  Loaded and heading out in the morning.  I'm excited.

Getting a lot of hiking in.  Spotting a few.  Snowed one day with a cold morning that turned them on a little, and back off quick.  Had one at 60 - 70 yards with too much brush.  Couldn't bring closer.  I made a solo run on 3 bulls this morning that we spotted last night.  They shut down 30 minutes before light, and wouldn't come out to play.  Getting the best of this old man.  Lay it all on the line or keep some energy and granola for rifle season?

Go for it!

Pain is temporary, nobody said it would be easy, they said it would be worth it.

Thats the plan.  Turns out the 3 are satelite bulls, spotted and will make a run on the herd bull in the morning.  Times ticking away.

Over 4 weeks.  Two BD this morning.  Lot of packing to do.  Happy.
