Sako and Tikka stocks?
«
on:
September 09, 2016, 05:16:47 AM »
Ok quick question to see if anybody has tried anything like this? So I have a couple of each with synthetic stocks and sometimes the hollow sound of the stocks drive me nuts against my pack or going thru some brush.(Sako is the loudest I think)
So I guess I could always upgrade the stocks, but I've been wondering about taking the limb saver butt pad off and putting expandable spray foam in the stock to quiet it down??

Stuff it full of bread sacks or Wal mart bags. It will deaden the sound and not add any weight. You don't have to worry about any issues with expandable foam. I stuffed my Tikka. Was surprised how many bags I was able to get in there. But worked great. Also put a limbsaver on. Big difference.

Heres a thread from Ifish about Tikkas and mods. Pretty good!

Expandable foam or plastic bags, both work great but plastic bags are cheaper and less likely to make a mess.

I'll give the bag trick a try on one and check it out.
All of mine get limb savers before they see a single round- I don't know why they waste their money with the factory ones!!

I used the twisted plastic bags on my Sako and packed them in with a dowel, then put on a Limbsaver. It worked great to quiet the stock.

Use the low expansion foam, red can I believe, not the high expansion, black can and there will be no issues.
Fill the void up to about 1/2" - 3/4" below full and attach the butt pad. Have done this before and no fuss - no muss, and very soild sounding after.
