So since a few people asked i figured i would share the story of my bear hunt.
So it all started with my previous hunt/trail camera check a couple weeks earlier when i lost my hand held GPS on what i thought would be my only chance out this year to target bear. I was able to convince my wife to let me go out and look for my GPS in a couple spots i thought it could be from my precious hunt and take my rifle for a walk in the process. I left my house around 4 am and got to the trail head around 1st light. Of course right when i headed in it started to pour down rain for about 45 min. After hiking in about 3 miles with some good elevation gain i started to see a ton of bear sign. I could tell there was alot of new bear trails that were not there last time i was out and the berries looked a lot better this time. My heart started pounding and my adrenaline was going since the last time i was in the section of the logging road i had a bear walking in the thick brush about 30 feet from me but unfortunately I couldn't get a shot. While all these thoughts are going threw my head i looked up the trail a see a bear head sticking up over the ridge line of the hill i was on at about 30 yards away. All in one motion i lifted my rifle and shot and the bear disappeared over the ridgeline. I never heard a death moan so i was concerned i may have just wounded the bear at 1st or even missed so I gave it a few minutes. I made a couple calls to get some help finding the bear and getting it out. With a buddy on the way I walked up about 10 feet on the trail to get a better view over the ridgeline and saw the bear dead about 20 feet from where i shot it. Over all it was a great experience with a quick death for the bear and i couldn't be happier. Except if I would have found my GPS. (Those things are expensive)
