Hello expert deer hunters...
Found this guy from across the valley during the first day of the high hunt. We'd gone in a bit early... He was relaxed and feeding to bed at about 930am. So off we went and 9 hours later we were coyoted out within 800 yards of where he went to bed on an opposing ridge. While we were waiting for the sun to go down so that we wouldn't be illuminated, a group of 3 hunters appeared in the basin below. Needless to say, he did not show that evening. The next morning we glassed the area all morning until one of the hunters took of up the hill underneath where the buck had bedded the day before on an EPIC blueberry picking mission so we left... I'm wondering what some of you think the buck would have done in that situation. Did he just hunker down to wait it out or did he leave the country? Will he be back? Should I head back later in September or wait for the general season. Thoughts? The picture is from a long ways away. 9 hours away in fact, and he's got his head down climbing the hill away from me. Thanks for your input!!
