Spring vs fall, timber vs clearcuts
« on: September 11, 2016, 10:25:33 AM »
Going into my second year of hunting.  I read through the west side spring bear thread but wasn't sure what's different with fall bear.  Last year I stumbled on a bear but it was kind of thick brush and all i saw was him get up and then his back disappear into the brush.  It was really windy and rainy and I think the conditions allowed me to get within 20yds which is why I was even able see him at all.

Without a good area to spot from a distance, can bear be still hunted well - maybe even with a call?  I don't have much opportunity to scout the area prior to hunting it so I will be hunting blind for the most part.   Can I hunt bear like elk?  I figure I will try to cover a lot of ground until I find some sign to start still hunting the area.  However, I don't know what to look for other than a bear get up and walk away :'( What should I be looking for while I'm scouting/hunting?

It is better to be consistently incorrect than inconsistently correct...

Sarcasm: The ability to insult stupid people without them realizing it.

My level of sarcasm depends on your level of stupidity...

Sarcasm makes smart people laugh and stupid people mad.
