Dog size for doghouse
« on: September 13, 2016, 08:16:17 PM »
I'm building a doghouse for my 5 month old  Lab pup. He's going to be a 90 to 100 lb dog. What I need from some of you guys with 90 to 100 lb Labs is the shoulder height, length and width of your Lab. I want to make sure I build it big enough.

I don't need the box size, I have plans for a flat top insulated house. The dog walks in one side rounds a corner to his bed on the other side.

Remember its best to only make it large enough to stand up, turn around and lay down. Anything bigger is much hard for the dog to keep warm in.

Yep I know that too. I don't want to build it to small that's why I need the size of these 90 to 100 lb Labs.

I have a 90 pound Lab. I poured a slab and built a doghouse.  I don't think that dog has ever seen the inside of it.  He decided he would rather live in the house :dunno:

Sorry, I know that doesn't help..

break out the tape and help me out. My Lab will be in the house a lot too but during the day while at work or just not home he will be in his kennel.

This is just what I had in mind when I poured a slab and built a doghouse.  Somehow, I just haven't used it much yet.  Anyway, let me get you some measurements of the big guy..

Okay, I just measured him and he's about 24.5" x 26", lol..  That is, he sands 24.5" at the shoulder and he's 26" from chest to base of his tail.  The door on my doghouse is 14" x 20" and he passes easily through that door.  I actually built my doghouse way too big.  The door dimension is perfect, but the house itself is too big.
