Vortex high country tripod and vortex spotter quick release question/problem
«

So I have a vortex spotter and figured what the heck I'll buy a vortex tripod. So the dang quick release plate DOESN'T have a second thingie to connect to the spotter for stability. The spotter just screws onto the plate and I can't get it tight enough so that it won't wiggle. What the hell man....seriously it's a dammed vortex/vortex pair and the spotter had the additional holes but there's nothing on the tripod to marry them with??!!
Option B: I'm a moron and there's a answer that I'm to dumb to comprehend...

I had that tripod and sold it to upgrade. The quick release plate I have now(Slik) has the little nub that sticks into the hole on the base of the spotter as in your picture.

Hmmm...dang. Can I find a quick release plate that doesn't suck that will fit on the high country tripod?

Maybe a little blue loktite would help?
I run Monfrotto tripod/heads/bases as that is what I bought for my camera. None of the plates I use have the extra little stud thingie and they have never come loose, even on my vortex spotter.

10-4 GG. Looking like Option B might well be a possibility

I couldn't pass up the High Country several years ago and figured it would be a perfect fit. Took me all of about half a hunting season to realize it's basically junk. Three different parts broke/came loose and after a couple fixes I figured it wasn't worth it anymore. It was taken well care of also. Pretty surprised Vortex made a tripod of that quality. I ended up going with a Gitzo carbon and am very impressed. Downside is it's very spendy.
