2016 DIY Alaska moose
« on: September 15, 2016, 11:05:25 AM »
Just got out of the bush on another successful Alaskan moose hunt. I did a float hunt in 2014 and got a 55" bull. This year I did a drop camp for 10 days and killed 52" bull. My hunting partner killed a monster 69" bull. I killed mine on day 5 and he killed his on day 6. Two days of packing quarters and we were back in camp just in time to get weathered in and we spent 72 hours straight in our tents getting hammered by wind and rain. The pilot finally got to us last night. I'll try to post some pics.

That's on my to do list in the next year or so.  If you can could you pm me the details of the hunt. That looks like an awesome experience. Congrats on hard earned bulls.

:yike: That's awesome. Definitely on my list to do in the next few years.  Congrats to both of you.

Were you in an area that they had to be a certain spread or was it a brow tine restriction?

Both are nice bulls.  I would love to hear the story, especially about the camp and the storm.

Amazing bulls.  Would love to learn about your drop in, and other logistics.  I'm 4 years max from a trip myself.

I'm taking care of a bunch of the logistics to get me and all my meat and gear home now. I'll type out the longer version of the story later tonight.

To answer one of the questions above we were in an any bull unit so no antler restrictions.

Wow, those are both great bulls, especially for an any bull unit.  Looking forward to the story.
