Muzzleloader sling
« on: September 17, 2016, 12:34:08 PM »
I am having trouble finding a sling set up that is compatible with my muzzleloader.  I does not have enough room to tap a screw at the end of the stock without running into the ram rod.  I have been searching for a set up like on some shotguns with a ring on the barrel, but so far I have found nothing to allow for the ram rod......I was hoping for something like you would use on a tubular magazine .22, our local sporting goods store says they are out there, but he couldn't find anything.  What are you guys doing to overcome this?  I could tap the anchor screw lower on the stock but I think it would make it awkward....

Ideas?

Most slings I see for muzz have sort of a loop that goes over the barrel loosely.
Are you wanting to have the sling set up identical to a rifle?  If not, have you thought of mounting the swivel on the side of the gun instead of underneath it?

I use a shotgun sling. Its somewhat of a slip knot over the barrel, and just wraps the stock.

It works...

:yeah: muzzle loaders are really snout heavy and regular shoulder slings are very awkward feeling at least my Knight bighorn is.
