Kent Fasteel failure to fire
« on: September 20, 2016, 02:52:39 PM »
I went out yesterday for the senior pheasant hunt.  Fired my first shot and all I heard was "click".  Checked the shell out and it appeared to have a light primer hit so I chambered it again, again a second "click".  Pulled out another shell and tried it.  From that point on all shells went bang.   Beats me what the issue is with the one that wouldn't fire.  I sent an email off to Kent with the specifics and should hear back.

I've been shooting for 60 years now and this is the first factory round I've ever had that wouldn't fire.  I hope I wait longer for the second one to occur.

The issue may be either a dud primer or one seated just a hair too deep.  Either issue would cause the problem.

I had a factory rifle round that had no powder in it. It was about 15-20 years ago and it was a PMC 270 round.  Lodged bullet in gun.  Luckily I was at range and not hunting.

I had a box of Waterfowl loads #2's that had a few misfires. Contacted Kent, seemed very interested, so I sent remaining box to them. Their conclusion was that they had some how gotten wet.  Which waterfowl hunting is certainly a possibility. They sent me 2 new boxes of same shells. Kents are not waterproof, or even water resistant I was told. So contact them, good customer service.
