I'm with ya! Saturday can't get here soon enough. I requested late buck season off, but am going to do day hunts, and Halloween weekend. Goo luck everyone!

Is it too much to ask for an hour long sun break around noon while I am glassing a south facing clear cut?  Then it can rain like heck again.

I like the forecast.  I don't like the meat not being able to dry out on the outside though.

Better kill em' clean, it sounds like there isn't going to be a lot of blood left to track em' out after five minutes.  I was thinking of hunting with my bow this weekend, but will probably do more slug gun hunting this weekend.  Ideally I will fill my antlerless tag Saturday morning this weekend and then may just hang in a blind w/my bow and if I get a perfect 20 yard shot at a good buck I will take it.

If you are new to slug gun hunting keep your ammo in a military ammo can on the west side or at least sealed in zip lock bags and rotate out what you have in your magazine tube and pockets after each day if you can.  It takes about three days to dry out after soaking up moisture on these type of days and from what I read in this book that can make a huge difference in velocity while the powder is damp.  It will dry out though and will be just fine after being in a warm house for a few days.

I haven't run nonindependent tests, but have no reason to doubt the author's credibility.

What I've been seeing is that there are two storms on the way.  The first is late Thursday, decent wind with a lot of rain.  Friday scattered showers and cloudy.  Then on Saturday the bigger storm hits, not as much rain; but high winds that last all day.  Sunday, still some showers around, but sun breaking in and out throughout the day.  Seems like good blackie weather.

Has anyone found rattling for blacktails to be a successful strategy on opening weekend?
