LBD!!!

Last day. First bull. I drew the peaches tag with less than the average amount of points. I spent nine nights in the Norse peak wilderness and hiked over a hundred miles. Meadows, swamps, dense timber, high ridges, etc... It was an incredible adventure with daily encounters with elk, including many very "respectable" bulls. Down to the wire. On the final day I had two close encounters with bugling bulls with no success... I was about to pack it up, get a sixer, and road hunt the final evening. I heard a distant bugle and shrugged my shoulders and thought what the hell I've come this far. I got in close, but it was so thick and the big bull just wouldn't come in. I moved in a little closer and saw this little guy feeding 35 yards away. I could only see the top of his back and antlers. I stood up on a rock and drew back, he started moving and I rushed a shot right over his back into a large tree. He didn't know what happened and move about 10' and stood broadside. I had already nocked another arrow and had to hunch down and thread my second shot between a 4" gap in a small firs branches. Perfect double lung shot and I got my first bull on the last day. I have no regrets about this adventure and learned a great deal. Happy hunting

Way to give it everything you got, and enjoying the experience along the way. That bull has character! Congrats

Congrats! Sounds like you gave it your all. I commend you. Glad to hear you were in elk much of the time.
