New Hunter Advice

Hey Guys!
I was wondering if I could get some advice in regards to a few things for a new hunter.
A bit of background on me: I just moved to Washington and heading out this fall for my first deer hunt. Grew up in Alaska and have spent a lot of time outdoors fishing and hiking.
For late fall hunting in the PNW, do you guys have any clothing recommendations? How important is having quiet stuff? I have heavy duty rain gear from commercial fishing but it is kind of loud.
Are there any particular pieces of gear that are really important for a successful hunt? Keeping in mind I want to keep it pretty simple, at least for this first year.
Do you guys have any good recommendations of books to read or movies to watch?
Thanks in advance for any ideas/recommendations.

For the westside I think the commercial fishing raingear is pretty good. The rain masks a lot of noise anyways. Plus for blacktail it isn't uncommon to be moving so slow that you aren't making much noise. Or...if you're a fast hunter booking it up the logging roads, you're making so much movement and noise anyways that doesn't seem to matter.

Late Fall will be wet. Good rain gear , waterproof boots and an extra pair of socks.
Keep in mind that the hunter success rate in Washington is about 20%. Ive eaten my fair share of tag soup.
Have fun and be safe!
Good luck.

If you're moving much in that rain gear, you'll get pretty wet from sweating. If you're not moving much, or real slow, it'll be good. The rain makes a lot of when it lands on everything, so you really don't need to worry about being super quiet.
