I drive a AWD minivan most of the time while hunting have had many deer and elk in it.  Only pull the truck out to haul gear to camp and tow trailers.  Had a forester for awhile and it was a very reliable car and was great out in the woods.  The short wheel base makes up alot for the low clearance.

That will get the job done, it's about the hunt, not the drive there. Much better than my college days hunting/fishing rig - a '76 Datsun B210 Honeybee that I paid $200 for and drove all over, got it stuck more than once-in-awhile.
Disappointments are inevitable, misery is optional.

Saw this on my way to NE MT/ND last year (speed goat on top). Loved my 91 Loyale wagon till the day it died with 320,000 on it.
