I picked up a NOS 7-30 Waters barrel earlier this year and have been getting it set up using my butt stock and it is shooting nice ~ 1 inch groups w/125 gr Ballistic Tips.
Then along came August and we have been out of town a lot, so the Triple K 3/4 inch cheek pad sat at Cabela's for a month and a half until I made it down last week to pick it up.
I put the cheek pad on tonight w/zip ties and will let it form to the stock for a week or so before lacing it down with the lace that comes with it.
I have some 140 gr hard cast bullets that we will get loaded up and head out to the range pretty soon so that she can get used to shooting it.
I'm thinking I may have lost my favorite Contender frame for good. I shot the 17 Hornet barrel with the 5-20 Nikon Monarch 3 on it at chucks all last summer, but she passed Hunter Ed now... so it's all hers for good now. I bought another CZ 527, this one in 17 Hornet, for myself and we will be having some good fun both shooting chucks next spring instead of her spotting and me doing all the shooting.
She is a righty, but left master eye so this setup is really going to be really nice for her. Not any decent left handed bolt guns available that are sized right for youngsters.
