Bears current location

If you are still looking for bears, go hit the blue berry fields up high. I saw about 13 in two days this week.

Havent been to the east side since archery elk, but I would be hitting any left over rosehip gulleys or fruit trees that are accessible, or just flat out predator call.

apples

tons of apple trees have been seeded by bears over the years, find one in the hills with fresh piles of bear poo and set up on it.

We're still bumping them at lower elevations on Himalayan Blackberrys on the west side . Berrys on the edges are getting thin but in the middle of big patches they are still producing . Does make it difficult to get off a clean shot when they are the thick of things .

I am at about 4000 ft in the Blues and the bears are still stomping around digging and tearing up stumps.  They just now are wrecking the elderberries.  They are in the woods and haven't messed with my campground or cabins.  Nor have they gone dumpster diving.

Just got my first deer last weekend, gonna focus only on getting my first bear now. Less than one month left and berries pretty much gone :chuckle:
I've read sayleans book, hit spots in the 448 (sultan area) and 437 (granite and verlot). Walked the logging roads and watched a lot of 3-5 year old clearcuts....found one small bear but missed  :bash: would really like to see a freezer full of bear this winter!
Any PM's with help are greatly appreciated!

i am no expert but i would thing river bottoms on west side pending on area. i was heading up high on wed for a buck and stopped ascending at 5500 ft, was knee deep snow at that elevation. shot one a few hundred feet lower. the berry fields start another few hundred vert up and were covered in probly 3ft plus of snow at 6500ft based on depth at 5500ft. on oct 1 they were pretty much wilted like grapes and done at least where i go. was a early big berry year and the earliest i have seen them be done as well for a while. about this time of year my trail cams always produce busy river bottom bears also the skat i find is full of mushrooms and or fish, yet again pending on area, elevation and the bears liking, good luck.

black berries, rose hips, evergreen hucks, tearing up stumps, peeling trees, bear berries, gut piles, mushrooms, might even find a little Oregon grape around.
