Spotting Scope Mounts For Phones
« on: October 09, 2016, 03:55:49 PM »
What is everybody using, what works well and what doesn't? I've always just held my phone up to the eyepiece by hand.

I checked out the Phone Scope site and they require 2 separate pieces totaling $75+ which sounded ridiculous to me. So I checked out eBay and there are loads of different types of mounts starting at less than $8.00.

 What do you guys use/like?

I tested the glass it up brand with an IPhone and a Swaro spotter. At first I didn't like it. I have an adapter to use a regular camera so I went back to that. While in Colorado I was bored and started playing with it again. Once I used it a little more that's all I used.

Only thing I don't like is it uses bands on the eyepiece to shim it out so the mount fits the scope. That in turn makes my eye piece cover not fit.

Regards, Branden

I have the universal phone scope kit. I really dig it. I looked back at some of my pics from a wymoning hunt this year and man it was worth the money. I have always just held my phone up to the lens as well. Once you get a little practice you can set it up quick and take some great pictures with a quality cell phone camera.

Phoneskope is the best hands down. Very fast and fit to your set up. Helped me make quick decision this year.

I used the Glassitupoi.com adapter during my Lope hunt this year in Montana, worked out really good and was half the price of the phone skope setup.

I have a newer s4 gear adaptor that works pretty well. I had to slightly modify it to fit my phone with the case but like it well enough

I have the Carson hookupz and it works pretty good...it's universal so if you get a new phone you won't need a new adapter

I have a phone skope, but it's for my old phone that my son is now using. Every time you upgrade phones you need a new case.  That in itself is enough to pass. If that don't detour you than the lack of micro adjust should.  Takes some wiggling to get it perfect.

I recently bought the s4 gear one and like it much better. Can use a variety of phones and has micro adjust. Much easier to get a clear picture. Plus I got it for 39.95 on sale at sportsman's.

My cousin has  the Carson and it works pretty good too.  Just don't work for my s7 because it pushes on the volume (zoom)  buttons.

Phone skope. I purposely bought an iphone 4s just to use with my spotting scope so I don't drain the battery on my phone.

I have the Carson Hookup one and it works pretty well.  It'd work better on a different spotter though as the Leupold Gold Ring I have has a really small and rubbery eyepiece that doesn't allow unit to work very well.
