Peeing in the woods?
« on: October 09, 2016, 05:18:19 PM »
So this maybe the dumbest question ever but it came to me today while I was in the middle of a clearcut scouting. So here is the question...
If you have the choice would you pee in a clearcut or closer to the road, does it matter?

My thought prosses was that if I pee in the middle of the clear cut I want to hunt that maybe the dear would keep there distance from that point... as a kid my mom always had me pee around the yard to keep the deer out. I now a clear cut is much larger but every little bit helps and we are down to leas than a week to go time can't wait!

If possible, try not to pee where you plan to hunt. If I have to per where I am hunting, I try to at least kick a little hole and then cover it. I will even sometimes break a few branches and lay it over the top

So in the Midwest I know guys that pee in mock scrapes. With all the rain either way it wouldn't matter.  I have never had an issue, other predators pee in the clear cut.

The deer will lick your urine for the salt, don't worry about it.  Lot of claims show they're attracted to it but I think it's just our salty diet they want.

I wouldn't pee in my deer stand or ground blind and usually go on the road before I dive over into the brush.

Yep, not a problem to whizz around deer; won't scare em off contrary to popular opinion.  MD are the biggest whizz lickers of them all. Pee well away from your tent in MD country or its like putting salt blocks out and they will keep you awake at night.

Yeah I thought deer would be attracted to the salt like mountain goats are.

I usually pee from my treestand, and also pee in the corner of my ground blind. Never seen it make a difference. Once my pee became a buck scrape over night.

Like pb said don't drop a d from the stand!  :dunno:

Pee wherever you like. I've seen them walk right up to it and smell it without any concern at all!

Pack it in pack it out, bring some quart ziplocks with you  :chuckle:
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.
