I think there were a couple of studies in the Midwest on whether deer would stay away from a mock scrape with human pee sprayed on it. The bucks showed no difference in marking those scrapes compared to real scrapes. Apparently, as noted above, they don't freak out about human urine.That begs the question, why spend $6 a bottle for buck or elk urine to spray on yourself when you can just piss your pants before you hit the woods?
I forgot to add that I've seen many reports of guys peeing off their tree stands during the rut only to have a buck come running in while the hunter still has his pants open. Apparently the splashy noise makes them think there is another deer close by. Whether they are looking to fight or hoping to breed - I have no idea.
