I don’t even have a date but I feel like my hunt has already started. I just started the planning phase for a hunt up to Alaska for moose. I want to do a DIY drop off or float hunt maybe this year or most likely next. I can already see a lot of planning will be neccassary to make a safe and hopefully successful hunt. Right now I’m trying to narrow down an area then find out what it will take to get me there and what it will cost. I have a couple areas I’m looking at on the western part of the state but still doing research. I’ve been looking at unit maps/google earth, management reports, harvest reports, draw odds and have a few phone calls into biologist. I’m also trying to keep the cost down as much as I can. Some of these charters are charging quite a bit to fly ya in and drop ya off. If any of you guys have done this I’d love to hear about it or if anyone has any tips on how to plan a safe and successful trip let me know. I would appreciate any advice. I want to learn as much as I can. Thanks
