I am stuck with a continuous streak of OP fish in the 17 and 18 pound range including a 18 pound hen this weekend.  I just can't seem to keep that big buck on when I tie into them.  Last year I was absolutely handled by a fish we guestimate in the mid 20's but it wasn't much of a fight thanks to the two sweepers he managed to braid my PowerPro through.  Looked like a damn cats cradle.  Oh well I'll keep plugging away!  Lots of gorgeous steelie pics being posted, nice job guys.

Here's my biggest hatchery steelhead to date. 18lbs 1oz. It would have won me 3rd place in the steelhead derby. New rod and reel. Seems as though every year I buy into the derby I end up with average fish, and when I dont buy in I end up with hogs like this. Also posted is a picture of my buddie Matt with a Skagit 20lb hen.

Didn't weigh or measure but the one on the left is probably my biggest, did have a pretty good size native hen towards the end of the season last year that may have been close.

I'm by no means an avid steelhead angler, I go down to Mcnary a few nights a year, thats about it.  But I love catching them, its just the closest waters are around 2 hours away.  Here is my biggest and my old mans biggest from last year.

MichealJ, we'll have to keep in touch. You're going to school at the U of I which puts you only about 45 minutes from my place. I'll keep you in mind next fall.

Sounds like a deal!   ;)  What are the best months to fish for 'em?

Here's mine. Caught on the Callawa a couple years back. This is the BEST picture I got of it :bash: It was almost dark. Unfortunately, my buddy had absolutely no clue how to use my digital so I had to have him hold it for a decent pic. It was well over 20.

I also have a pretty big summer run I caught off the Sky. I had my buddy at Blackwater do a sweet replica of it. I'll post pics of it later tonight.

Its just part of CS2/CS3. Email your pics and I will fix them and send them back. I adjusted the exposure a bit as well, thats why it looks a little lighter too.

What a pig Coastalghost.  Did you mount him?  And did you get him on that old yellow rod in the boat?

Lol...no the "herters special" was a backup rod.  I got it on a original graphite lami I built with 10 lb test.  The boat is a 10 footer we made out of marine plywood etc.  It was a great boat..tracked real nice and you could throw it in the back of a pickup.  We made two of them and would just stack them in the pickup.

I got him mounted by Greg Kluh of Kluh and sons jewelers he did a great job although the fish coloring is not what it actually looked like. This mount is near 15-20 yrs old.
