Sitka Stormfront vs Kuiu Yukon
« on: October 17, 2016, 07:36:57 PM »
Hey guys,

I need some help deciding and pulling the trigger on some rain gear.  After this last weekend of rain and all, I have decided to drop some change on some serious rain gear.  Here is the trouble.... I can use the 20% off coupon for the yukon gear or I have a friends and family employee pricing coupon for cabelas and can get the stormfront gear at least over 100$ off the top and bottom.  I am looking at getting the jacket and pants.  Can you fellas help me decide?

The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it.

If you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything.

I only have experience with the Yukon, but I was very happy using it this first year. It blocks the wind great, and it kept me dry in snow, hail and rain this early archery elk season.

A buddy just text me from North Idaho raving about the Yukon gear and he is never happy with anything.   :chuckle:

Yukon hands down.... I sat in the "storm of the century" and stayed completely dry with it...so glad I spent the money on it and don't regret it at all

I agree!  I have the Yukon set and love it, walked in wet huckleberry bushes as it rained all day, was dry!  You may get a tiny bit damp in extreme situations but not wet.
“In common with”..... not so much!!

I haven't even got damp yet...I was very impressed...just make sure and keep the wrist straps snug to form a gasket and keep the hood on when it's raining and its great

It's nice to hear real reviews. I can see where high end gear is worth it , but only if it works. Im so done with Cabelas Goretex Raingear. The KUIU and Sitka both look like nice products

I've ran cabelas rain suede and rivers west the last few years and it served its purpose for a while...kept me somewhat dry, sweated alot in it when hiking  but it kept me warm with some layering and after it failed last season I decided to step up and spend some money on good stuff...I was going to get Sitka then kept hearing great things about kuiu....not being able to have it in my hands I was a little Leary about ordering it but after reading great review after great review I bit the bullet and ordered them and haven't looked back....they got a customer for life with me

I did some reading on the KUIU website tonight. I found it interesting that the same owner founded Sitka and ended up selling the company to Gore

I have a KUIU Yukon jacket and a full set of the KUIU Chugach. The Yukon is definitely more heavy duty but there is nothing that I have been in that Chugach couldn't handle. I also prefer hiking and hunting in the Chugach.
