Idaho Unit 32 for deer?
« on: October 17, 2016, 08:37:35 PM »
Greetings,
My hunting partner of 28 years has up and moved to Idaho (meaning my daughter got married) two years ago and really wants to get out for a weekend with her dad; me.
Problem is from what little scouting I did, there's not much there in the way of good deer country that's not burnt or already a public stomping ground.
Any suggestions would be welcome.  We have to play it close to home so area 32 is about it.
Thanks in advance,
Goshawk

Well, we went and after a full day in the field managed to push this toad out of a canyon where she connected with her 270win.  It was the first time she ever took a running shot, but she sure made it count!

I was very surprised at a couple of aspects regarding hunting in Idaho.
1.  I never saw anyone off their lifted go-carts pushing brush.
2.  Areas that were closed to ATV traffic were still full of those Jacked up go-carts or even pickup trucks running back and forth over the ridges.  It might be just me, but the vast majority of those we saw hunting were road hunters only; quad or truck.  I guess that's why we found this old guy so easily.  A great way to get back in the field with my daughter.

You are spot on tons of quad and truck hunters in idaho. I just dealt with it myself. Every time i thought i was alone some quad would come ripping by on some road i did not know about. If a guy can find some spots the quads arnt hitting usally a guy can do good.

That's a great buck but by now you've probably realized that you were in violation of the #1 hunting regulation in Idaho:
All hunters must be in, or at least have possession of, a quad, side by side or "jacked up go cart"

It is hard to follow one great vision in a world of darkness and of many changing shadows. Among these shadows men get lost.
