Hey everyone,

I am looking for a taxi near Vancouver for a deer shoulder mount. Any recommendations would be great. Oregon or Washington. Thanks in advance

How close to Vancouver do you want to be?

Arnold at Vancouver Taxidermy

Or

Frank Specht in Kelso/Longview

Frank has done a couple deer heads and a bear for me. And Arnold is doing a full cougar for me now, and has done a lot of work for other family and friends.

Google will come up with both their numbers.

Couple hours probably. I just don't want to drive to half way across the state if I don't have to. Thanks

Artistic Taxidermy in Portland is really good. Bullz-Eye Taxidermy in woodland is really good. These are the only two guys that I would have touch my animals in this area and I live a 1/4 mile from Vancouver Taxidermy if that tells you anything.
There's a new Taxi in Woodland and I think it's called Keirnens Taxidermy, they are from down south of Portland and recently moved shop to Woodland.

Good choice! When I dropped my Lope off a month ago they were around a 7-8 month turn around.

My family used artistic for years. The problem with them there is a ton of different people working on your stuff and you never know who is going to mount it. They had some new people in training and my family got 2 of the worst looking mounts I have ever seen back in my life. We quit using them. Go to a taxi that you know will be working on your animal. I drive about 8.5 hrs round trip to charile in tenino because his work is 2nd to none and he is the one mounting all of the mounts.

Matt, how long ago was this?

Earlier this year my cousin got his two mounts back from last year and they looked really good, and my bosses Elk from last year looks great too.

Last one was about 7 years ago if I remember right. They have multiple people working in there. Some are talented and some are new and some are just less talented. One of the mounts was on one of the coolest bucks we have ever killed. A whitetail bench mix my grandmother shot and had mounted. Every time I see it, it makes me mad. When I told them it was not acceptable.  They said that I could pay to have it re mounted. My family has a lot more artistic mounts then the avg joe. Probably north of 15. We have some great mounts some ok mounts and getting those 2 back that are as bad as I have seen. Made us quit using them.

That's to bad Matt, but from what I've seen lately is really good.

If you're getting a higher quality mount I wouldn't worry about turn around time too much.  :twocents:
