When deciding to use force to defend your family and or property you should consider if the force you use is reasonable based on the crime occurring. To much force and you are harming the very things you are trying to protect. A wrongful death lawsuit will cost you everything you own and a manslaughter charge could land you in jail. Then who's taking care of your family? I don't like theives, criminals etc but you live in a world that often doesn't see things the way you do.

Exactly. I think the system is so wrong. but hey what can you do other than OBEY....frustrating. best to just abide by the law and have insurance and keep things as secured as possible. it is so sad that this is where we are now

As flawed as that may seem, it's still light years better than vigilante justice where folks are arbitrarily applying capital punishment that may or may not fit the crime.

I really really love these threads..
me too. I can't troll for steelhead...so I troll the internet. property owners don't have any recourse to defend there stuff from getting stolen because the spineless people that say shooting someone that is stealing from you is wrong. there theory is BOHICA. Criminals are being cast as victims....what a shame

I'm sure if the government were to adopt your stance on corporal punishment without any due process, you'd be okay with that too?  I'm all for lethal force, when it is applied in accordance with state and federal law.  Based on your statements, you are willing to freely commit a homicide and then perjure yourself.
Not sure if this was directed at me... corporal punishment  may not cost as much as jail time and may have more of a deterrent. Sherrif Joe Apreio AZ doesn't have to go to that extreme and yet manages to keep thugs in line... would I settle for these clowns to sit in pink jumpsuits in Korean  War errands tents surrounded by Constantine wire? You bet... since we are flapping our gums I'd trade a bunch of thing for giving a guy a few lashes... even after he has had his chance to prove his innocence.

Actually, it was a typo and should have said capitol punishment, as in executing someone who is stealing something.  It was directed at Trophyhunt.

If a guy comes on to my property, and he gives me any impression that he's there to do us harm, yes, there will be no trial for him. Perjure myself how? You guys must be members of the black lives matter movement? Do you think cops shouldn't kill bad guys with guns? Maybe the guy with the gun wasn't going to shoot the cop? Bad guys need to be put down like bad dogs, I don't care who does it, government or law abiding citizen protecting his lively hood.

Your assumptions are silly.  No one said a word about black lives, that statement just makes you look ridiculous.

Read Tennessee v. Garner and know it well.  Assumptions will put you in prison.  Articulable facts will keep you out.
