Estimated US Firearms in Circulation
« on: October 24, 2016, 08:48:26 PM »
The commonly accepted estimate is 300 million in private possession.  This argues persuasively that it is 50-100% higher.

Interesting, in any event.

I will do my best to keep that number going in a positive direction.

To me what this proves is that it would be impossible to take away all guns. More likely to affect ownership competency and usage  through ammo
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

:yeah: Eventually all the ammo will run out except black powder.  :twocents:  But there will always be options.

And of course.

something I didn't see mentioned is the number of rifles/shotguns used in 'justifiable homicide' versus the total.  The report only shows all homicides.  I've heard estimates that about a third to half of all the rifle homicides are from some kind of police/agency.  Example being SWAT teams or when police respond to situations where they have more time than just drawing the pistol.

I sold all of mine on November 30, 2014. I've felt vulnerable ever since.

Purely coincidence, I'm quite sure.

As a born again sheep, I have accepted my government as my protector.  All I need to defend my family is a telephone and a Gun Free Zone sign.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.
