It will be interesting to see where this particular matter ends up, whatever the facts and issues are.  But set  aside for a minute whatever it involves and consider a more general and non-specific point.

A general issue that gets discussed on H-W a lot is property rights and rules.  Most are fundamental and common sense principles.  And most hunters are very respectful of those principles.  Before I venture onto my neighbor's property, or your property, I get permission or I won't step onto it.  It's common sense and it's the law.   Because of that,  the so called "local" and other purported "guides" and permit holders who venture into the Blues should not lose their minds in pursuing big game and shed hunting quests.  There are a lot of eyes and ears out there---and of course we now have the live and wireless relay cameras.  And other common photo cameras.

It's an honor to get drawn for a much sought after permit.   Have a good time, enjoy the hunt, but don't let the pursuit of the animal cloud good judgment.   Certain things are just not going to be tolerated by those who don't play by the rules.

:bash: Funny how a large rack clouds the judgement of even the most seasoned outdoorsman.

I am all for a fair and open discussion about game laws and the related issues, but this type of "trial by forum" does nothing but cast the whole HuntWa community in a bad light.  I don't think the biased arguments between the inevitably entrenched sides (people who want to see the law followed and violators punished vs those who come out to defend the accused and/or the minimize the law that was broken) do anything but bring down the HuntWa community on the whole and the mods busy.  :bdid:
I hope people can keep it civil, no matter what actually happened.

As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

So you're saying that if a suspected illegally killed trophy bull was indeed actually harvested illegally that those in the know should remain silent and not post their concerns? Even if it taints huntwa reputation for the majority of law abiding hunters, I still feel illegal harvests should be called out. :twocents:

I think he is saying that we should consider them innocent until proven guilty.

I'm not saying anything of the sort, and projecting a position full of hyperbole and overreaching statements like this onto fellow members is part of the problem here.

I think he is saying that we should consider them innocent until proven guilty.

Seems to be a lost consideration these days. There is ALWAYS more to the story than what is posted here, so any opinion is based on assumptions, not fact. And you know they say about assuming things....

I would agree, but I don't see anything wrong posted so far, just some concerns of what happened and where. :dunno:

And that's fine. Concerns should be vocalized, it gets people thinking about the problem.

Hopefully the OP will wade in.  He appears to have changed the story a time or two from his original opening  post.

How about clearing it all up for the crowd, buglin4bulls?

You are right - this hasn't tipped yet... and I hope it doesn't.  I lost some respect for a few folks on here over the last big bull mega-thread.
