Hopefully the OP will wade in. He appears to have changed the story a time or two from his original opening post. How about clearing it all up for the crowd, buglin4bulls?
Is there a link to any REAL, OFFICIAL information on this bull elk harvest? I'm obviously new to this forum and would like to here an account of the actual story on this elk kill. I'm not really into trying to decipher all the sarcastic angles posted on this subject. Thank you.(I know it doesn't sound like much fun to be educated on the facts, but I find it interesting to know the facts).Lefthook
We do have the properties of the trophy photos shared. Based on GoHunt! mapping and surface land status mapping, the GPS coordinates recorded by the iPhone 6s at 9:21am on 10/25/2016 are north of National Forest land by about 0.32 miles, and is private land within the West Patit Hunt by Reservation Private Lands Hunting Access Area.

I am a "benefit of the doubt" kind of guy. I could see where they got crossed up and ended up in the wrong spot. Depends on how they got there. If it was clearly posted not a lot of wiggle room. I think I would have had the HuntX map and made sure I was where I thought I was.

They could have had the hunting reserved for those dates, they could have received landowner permission. The iPhone may not have recorded the correct coordinates. Just adding to the available facts.
it seems to me this thread got jacked. Shouldn't there be another topic on weather it was seized or not? Doesn't seem fair to the poster especially if there was no wrong doing. Mods?
I'm not up on this tech stuff, but if I understand this correctly, the coordinates can be pulled directly from a photo posted on this thread? How do you find the coordinates from looking at a picture? Very interesting, if they knowingly were hunting on land not open to them, wouldn't they take pictures with an old school camera? Putting all this together it seems, if they were on land not open to them, the could have gotten spun around not realizing they entered a closed area.Lefthook
