Umtanum special elk permit help
« on: October 26, 2016, 04:37:37 PM »
I have a buddy who drew a permit for rifle bull in the umtanum, rifle, he's been at it since it opened.  He's not having much luck and I don't have a clue about that unit.  He's camped on the 1712 rd about 1 mile from a big intersection towards Clemens. I told him I'd ask you guys, he had 20 points.  PM's would be great, thanks guys.

Steep and deep, north facing slopes.

Would this be the observatory big bull permit?

My brother and I have  taking our dad out on his disabled permit for observatory since the opener. His inability to hike is a huge obstacle but we have only seen two cows way down low in the Wenas. Talked to a few last day deer hunters Tuesday and they had only seen two cows in the whole deer season. Hoping for a miracle but time spent in the woods with dad is still a great way to spend time.

I agree with above. Steep deep North Facing dense areas. It might be helpful to have someone put on some drives in those locations.

I'll keep an eye out. Wife has a cow tag for Umtaneum (she disabled) so can't go too deep. Haven't seen anything yet but if I do I'll PM a tag holder. I have a couple spots to check still. Good luck.
