Well, after an aggravating archery season, in the jagged hills of northern Idaho, I found myself staring at a real living bull elk during the rifle season. I haven't seen many bulls over there, despite sign that they're around. Most of the problem is they can hide just about everywhere and there's always some brush in your way.
Solo hunt, although I had some late help on part of the pack out (which was great), otherwise all alone.
35 Yard shot with a .375 H&H... To say that I'm thrilled is an understatement. My last bull was with my dad (I say that I shot it, but it was a group effort) and was probably almost 10 years ago now.
Note: when you're all alone, even taking pictures is difficult...
Also, I've seen enough trail cam giants to know that this isn't one, but I'm proud as heck to have even found a bull to shoot at!
330 lbs back to the house with bone in quarters and hooves. Packaging started in my new Vacmaster VP215 chamber sealer, which is a dream machine.
