I got back from 117 election night I did not see very much activity 7 does total, the up side is they did not have fawns with them. I did see a wolf in one of my stands maybe the reason for low activity. we could use some colder weather it was warm high 50s.

Anybody planning to put some attractant out to try to pull in some does that could attract bucks?

I am going to attempt laying a drag line from two different directions tomorrow on the outskirts of a bedding area I located last weekend.  I was able to pick out 5 does sitting in the nasty thick brush.  I haven't been out since Sunday, so I hope that they are still hanging around.

This past Monday the deer were moving pretty good. I glassed up two decent bucks at 1500 yards together still bedded. Made the move but lost them in the bushes. We also saw a few smaller bucks that we passed up on.

Still no evidence of activity as I see every year through the windows of my North Spokane County home.  My guess is still a week away at minimum.

Well yesterday i was sneaking through the woods into the spot where i wanted to hunt, and a nice ear wide 4x4 wt buck stood up about 60 or 70 yards away and stood broadside staring at me for some time, then walked around a tree, came back and stared some more.. repeated that a couple times.  Could have killed him over and over..  pretty stupid behavior from a probably 3.5 yr old buck, which i took as slightly rut induced brain damage.  Then when i got to where i wanted to be, watched a young buck chasing the hell out of a whole mess of does all over the cut i was watching.  But the does he was chasing still had fawns in tow.  He was jumping the gun a bit.  Anyway, good sign.  Its a start anyway.  Im guessing a few more days and the deer gods will flip the rut switch to "on" despite this awful warm weather.

What's left has been rutting like crazy for a week plus now as far as muleys go. Sad deal about the numbers of animals though.

Was up north central yesterday. Almost all the does i saw had fawns still. Did see one nice buck cruising though. Hopefully it hits high gear starting in the next week or so.

It has been my careful observation this weekend that the only bucks rutting right now fall into two categories:

1.  Bucks that are too small for me to notch my tag on.  I have seen so many silly little lovesick whitetail spikes, 2 and 3 points that I have honestly lost track.  They know that they fall into that "nobody's gonna burn a tag on me" category, so they are pretty much doing what they want.  They know they are safe, so they are trying to get as much action as possible before the big guys come out of their foxholes (which by my calculations will be on November 20th at first light...).

2.  Bucks that live on private, posted land that I already know I will never get permission on.  These deer seem to exist on a different biological plane than the bucks that live on public ground (or on ground that I have or can get permission on).  They rut earlier, harder and stupider than normal deer.  They don't even stop and look at me when I stop the truck to glass them.  I can see them smirk and roll their eyes though...

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

:chuckle: Lol I get your point but they aren't safe from this guy. I'm meat hunting this week first buck I see drops.

Up north/central, this last weekend.

Bucks are cruising hard and chasing does hard! I don't think it is peak rut though, just a select few does are being pressured.

Seen a couple wall hangers walking around like they were invincible. 15 yards off the road with no cares in the world.

Bucks are not full out fighting, still just rubbing antlers and thrashing sage brush. Seen quite a few new rubs.
