Season dates next year
« on: November 06, 2016, 02:01:48 PM »
Anyone know when the modern eastern season will be next year? This year is 15-25. Will next year be 14-24 or 21-31? Both dates are starting on a Saturday.

When will it switch to the later week? The following year?

Never. In 2018 it will open on the 13th.

This is a slightly misleading statement. I have hunted on the 27th before so at some point it gets later not earlier.

That would be stupid. Seen a lot more mulies than whitetail in the units I hunt.

It almost certainly will not go to permit only next year. Maybe in 10 or 15 years but they wil wait until deer are almost extinct before they do that.

Lets hope it doesn't take that long to do the right thing. Not saying that all mule deer units have to go this way gonehuntin68 but there are some that need it.

When Labor Day jumps back a week the season will jump back a week that year. Probably like 5 years, since last year was when it jumped back.

In 2020 it will start on October 17th, but still, that's only two days later than when it started this year. And that's the latest it will ever start, as long as they continue setting the seasons the same as they have for many years now. It's the first Saturday in October after the 10th.

And there you go...

Sorry, I injected some thoughts from the "save our mule deer" thread(s).

Good to hear that they don't need saving :IBCOOL:
